PRAY FOR YOUR LEADERS

Updated: Nov 29, 2020

I remember years ago when my choice for President of the United States of America lost. I remember being tempted to jump on the bandwagon and joining others in hating my President. YES, even though I didn’t vote for him, he was still MY PRESIDENT. I wanted to "like" the hateful memes that started to appear on social media.

But Holy Spirit took a firm hold on me and brought to my mind, 1Timothy 2 (The Passion Translation). We are encouraged to pray with gratitude to God. Verses 2 and 3 say to “Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. Pray for EVERY POLITICAL LEADER AND REPRESENTATIVE, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives, as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts. It is pleasing to our Savior-God to pray for them.”

As I began to pray for this man-that-was-not-my-choice, the Lord Jesus began to change my heart about this man. He didn’t change the man, he changed ME and my attitude. Where I used to laugh and celebrate those hateful memes, I began to cringe. I prayed for this man for 8 years. I prayed for the Lord to surround him with His goodness and to surround him with wisdom on how to lead the nation.

I want to ask you a question. If you are believer, do YOU pray for your President? I want to ask you, as a believer, what does your social media timeline say about who YOU are? Can someone tell, by looking at your timeline, that you are a follower of Jesus Christ?

My pastor recently delivered a message that still rings in my head. What makes God cry, should also make you cry. Saints, we need to turn off our televisions, put our phones away and ask the Lord “What do You have to say about this?” “Lord, what is the truth?’ “What makes you cry, Pappa?”

“Pappa, how is it that your children are so divided?" "Pappa, what is the bigger picture that we are missing?” I can tell you what I have been hearing about this. I wrote about it in my August 29th post “A Prayer for the United States of America.” If you haven't read it, I encourage you to check it out. This is so much bigger than a presidential race, my friends, and we need to wake up! We need to stop fighting each other and ask the Lord what our assignment for His glory is.

I know what you’re thinking: A bit judgmental, isn’t she! No, I cry for us, because we were made for bigger things than this! We are supposed to be ambassadors for Christ! EVERY.DAY.OF.THE.WEEK! We are supposed to being taking up territory for the Kingdom, not tearing it apart!

I recently received revelation about 2 Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” MY PEOPLE! That’s me! That’s you! How many times have I read that passage and not understood this was talking about BELIEVERS?

It’s time! It’s time for us to remove our Democrat and Republican labels and be KINGDOM PEOPLE! It’s time that we cast aside what society and the media say is ”politically correct” and start standing firm in what God says is righteous!

Aren’t you tired of the constant drama?

Don’t you think there is something seriously wrong that we, Christians, are almost half Democrat/half Republican? HOW CAN THAT POSSIBLY BE!!!????

Lord, I seek Your Face and ask for revelation!

‭‭

Father God, I humbly ask you to search our hearts. If there is something there that grieves Your heart, reveal it to us so that we can repent. Forgive us for our failures. Guide us. Protect us. Bring us together as ONE NATION UNDER GOD. Heal those places that no one can heal but you Lord. We declare and decree that the United States of America belongs to You, Lord. We declare and decree that no weapon that has been formed to destroy America will prosper. In Jesus name, amen.

Never stop praying. Never stop seeking His face.

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way of everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24, NIV

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14, NIV
